THE CIRCUS MUST GO ON

CHICAGO TRIBUNE

Mar 27, 1987

We almost lost the Triton Troupers Circus this year, when the sponsor retired from circusing after 15 years.

We almost lost the Triton Troupers Circus this year, when the sponsor retired from circusing after 15 years. But then the assistant manager stepped in–and the show will go on. Clowns, fire-torch juggling, high-wire walking, teeterboard, magic and comedy acts are only a few of the 18 acts to be presented at the 16th annual circus this weekend at Triton College. Other offerings: A woman is levitated off the bristle end of a broom, two people walk on a rolling globe and a fictional parallel bar competition takes place between a mock U.S. Olympic gymnastic team competing with a gymnastic team from a fictional country called Wewantobe (We Want To Be). This 40-performer troop, which consists mostly of talented amateurs plus a few professionals, also does off-campus shows during the year.

Triton Troupers Circus; Triton College, Robert B. Collins Center, 2000 5th Ave., River Grove, 456-0300, then ask for Ticketmaster; 7 p.m. Friday, 1 and 7 p.m. Saturday; $1.25.
